In 1998 operations started in Elektrociepłownia Będzin S.A. aiming to implement the Integrated System of Quality and Environment Management. System documentary was prepared and the series of internal audits was conducted and then in April 2000 the certification audit was held by RWTUV Polska Ltd. The Integrated System of Quality and Environment Management was assessed to be in accordance with PN-ISO 9002 and PN-ISO 140001 standards, and the audit gave positive results.

On the 14th of June, 2000, Elektrociepłownia "Będzin" S.A. received the Certificates confirming the implementation of the Integrated System of Quality and Environment Management. Elektrociepłownia "Będzin" S.A. obtained two Certificates at once, as one of the first among enterprises of power branch.

The Certificates confirm high standards of technological processes and guarantee keeping optimal parameters of energy generated, particularly as far as natural environment protection is concerned. Another recertification audit took place in May 2003.

After checking accordance of the System functioning with required regulations, the Company empowered to recertificate, RWTUV Polska Ltd., issued certificates for following three years confirming the appliance of the Integrated System of Quality and Environment Management according to EN ISO 9001:2000 and EN ISO 14001 Standards.

At the moment preparations to implement the System of Safety and Work Hygiene Management adequate to ISO 18000 standards are being continued.

The aim of the re-certification audit, conducted by the auditors of TÜV Nord Polska between 13 - 15.05.2009, was to once more certify the conformity of the Integrated Environmental Management, Quality and Workplace Health and Safety System with the requirements of EN ISO 9001:2000, EN ISO 14001:2004 and PN-N 18001:2004 standards.

The audit was conducted on the basis of The IMS book, required by procedural standards, the standards other IMS documents. After interviewing Company employees at their work stations, studying the documentation of the integrated management system and observing the procedures, the auditors declared that the system operating in Elektrociepłownia Będzin S.A. meets the requirements of the aforementioned standards.

No inconsistencies were discovered during the audit. The instructions given after the audit and the potential for improvement will serve the further perfection of the IMS in the Company.
